What it is and what it is for
Did you scan a stack of receipts into one PDF? The Split Agent separates that batch PDF into single documents in PaperOffice AI. It runs in the background on the server. Every part becomes its own document in the workspace. The “Connections” tab shows which batch a part came from.
How to do it
- Open Document AI → Split Agent and click Create Split Agent.
- Choose the Split rule: Automatic (AI), Fixed pages per document, Entity separator or Custom instruction.
- Pick the Target Workspace for split results, or use the source document's workspace. Save the agent.
- Open Documents and select the PDF.
- Choose Actions → Agents & workflows → Split, then Run via Split Agent.
- Select your agent and click Start Split Agent. The split runs in the background.
Good to know
- Only PDFs are split. The agent skips other files.
- If a boundary is uncertain, the document is filed with the status “to review”. You find the task under Workflow AI → Human In The Loop Tasks. With Correct split boundary you move, split or merge parts by page number.
- The Split Agent is a paid feature.
- The free “Split PDF” tool on paperoffice.ai is something else. There you split by page ranges yourself and download the parts. Nothing is filed in your workspace.
- Separator sheets for batch scanning belong to PaperOffice Classic, not to PaperOffice AI.
