What it is and what it is for
The 3-way match checks whether an invoice fits the purchase order and the delivery note. PaperOffice runs it automatically once a document has finished processing. Documents belong together when they sit in the same workspace and carry the same purchase order reference. It checks amounts, and quantities and prices per item.
How to do it
- File the purchase order, delivery note and invoice in the same workspace.
- Wait until processing has finished.
- Open the invoice and go to the Audit tab.
- Read the 3-way match block: Match OK, Variance or Partial match. The individual checks are listed below.
- Use Open purchase order or Open delivery note to jump to the matching document.
For an overview, open Documents, choose Group by → Purchase order reference (PO) and click Match details in a group. It shows ordered, delivered and invoiced per item.
Good to know
- If the delivery note is missing, PaperOffice compares only the order and the invoice.
- Without a purchase order reference there is no match. Such documents sit in the group “No purchase order reference”.
- If a check fails, the block shows “Review required”.
- There is nothing to set up. The match is paid once an order is found, once per invoice and document state.
