The tree comes from the path
In PaperOffice AI the folder tree is a view of each document’s storage path. Import from a ZIP or a storage mount keeps subfolders in that path: How do I import data into workspaces?.
The folder view in the documents overview filters and navigates. It is not a file explorer for creating empty folders.
Document folder
Actions → New Folder creates a document folder from selected documents (at least two real documents, not folder rows). That is a grouping, not a new branch in the import tree.
If the tree is missing
- Import has not finished: After import
- The files were flat in the ZIP, without subfolders
- A different workspace is open
