1. Describe exact steps to reproduce
Writing the exact steps to reproduce a bug is the most important part of a bug report.
If it is really a bug and it can be reproduced by our developer, it will most likely be fixed.
Describe the exact instructions or procedures in the form of "1) ..., 2) ..., 3) ..." from start to error with screenshots and / or ideally as a video recording.
If you don't have video recording software, Windows 10 has a built-in video recorder; You can find more information here.
| What should be included in a bug report? | Example |
|---|---|
| Please indicate if you can reproduce the error at will, occasionally or not at all. | I can reproduce the error as follows: |
| In addition, describe what interactions are performed for this in PaperOffice. |
1. Start PaperOffice by double-clicking the desktop icon. 2. Click Continue to enter. 3. ... |
| After your steps have been taken, accurately describe the observed (current) outcome and the expected outcome. Separate the facts (observations) very precisely from the hypotheses (expectations). | Expected outcome:Surface finishes loading and displays the daily brief. Actual result: The surface is not displayed - the surface loading window plays indefinitely and the program becomes unresponsive. |
2. Rate the impact of the error:
Blocker / Showstopper: No task can be performed.
Critical: Unexpected closure of the application, loss of data.
Major: Great loss of function.
Medium: Less loss of function.
Small: Some improvements to the user interface.
3. Create a new empty database
Create a new, empty, local database and check whether the error also occurs here. If the error does not occur, the problem is with your database.
4. Try it on another PC / VM
If you have another PC or virtual machine, try to reproduce your error on this system in order to narrow down whether it is a general error or whether the problem only occurs on your PC.
5. Suggestion of solution
Describe your suggestion to fix the error.
6. Provide additional information.
- Operating system, antivirus / firewall software, processor, memory, hard disk (or device manufacturer and model)
- Does the user have administrator rights or restricted rights?
- Have you added the PaperOffice program folder to the list of exclusions for your antivirus?
- Where is the database stored?
If it is not local: on a NAS ->manufacturer name), on a server ->operating system, MySQL / MariaDB version.
If the error also affects files, we need these too, if possible. Hide sensitive information before sending the files.
If you want to send files that cannot be sent directly via the ticket system, then provide this data online and include the corresponding download links in the ticket.
When you have put together all six (6) points of the error report, then create a ticket in our PaperOffice comdesk, in which you can send this detailed error report together with the necessary files.
IMPORTANT: Your bug report cannot be processed without information about points 1-6.
