Document AI: what is read from a document?

Read, classify, extract

When a document arrives in PaperOffice AI, three things happen.

  1. Read. AI text recognition captures text and layout, for digital PDFs as well as scans and photos. With the matching AI-DMS tier, handwriting, stamps, signatures and ticked boxes are recognized too.
  2. Classify. Classification detects the document type, for example invoice, contract or delivery note, and suggests where to file it. Document types are created under Document AI: What are document types?.
  3. Extract. Field extraction returns header data, single fields, tables and line items, including across pages. Each field comes back with value, confidence and position on the page.
