SFTP, WebDAV, S3 and IMAP: which purpose allows which protocol

Purpose first

Under Document AI → Storage mounts → Create, purpose comes before protocol. Purpose and encryption are fixed after save. Path: /{lang}/document-ai/storage-mounts-overview.

PurposeAllowed connection
Use as BYOS storageexternal SFTP only
Use as import sourceexternal SFTP, scanner endpoint, Reverse-SSH, Amazon S3, WebDAV, email (IMAP)

Azure Blob, Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox and Box are locked as Enterprise in the standard UI.

What does not exist

PaperOffice AI has no SMB and no Windows-share connection type. A mapped drive in the file explorer is not a storage mount. Files from a network drive enter import as a ZIP: How do I import data into workspaces?. Larger than 5 GB or 2000 files: SFTP, S3 or WebDAV as an import source.

WebDAV (including Nextcloud, ownCloud or the WebDAV of a NAS) is an import source, not BYOS.

IMAP is the mailbox, not the file server: How do I connect a mailbox?.

The scanner endpoint is an upload point provided by PaperOffice. External devices drop files there. That is an import source.

SFTP reachability: The NAS must be reachable from the PaperOffice datacenter.
